Harbor Police were called to Pearson’s fuel dock for an adrift dinghy.

July 6

Harbor Police investigated a burglary that occurred on a vessel in the Marriott Marina. Subject/s broke into and boarded a large yacht, stealing several items while the owners were asleep within their vessel. Harbor Police Detectives are still investigating.

July 5

Harbor Police located a stolen dinghy near the A-1 La Playa Anchorage that was reported stolen from a North Bay slip a couple days prior.

July 4

Harbor Police were called to a Hornblower vessel for a subject acting erratically. Harbor Police contacted the subject as the vessel approached the dock and found he was on parole and under the influence of narcotics. He was taken into custody.

Harbor Police located a dinghy that was reported stolen in North Bay and returned it to the owner.

Harbor Police issued a citation to a boater in the Harbor Island basin due to his vessel not being registered.

Harbor Police responded to South San Bay San Diego for a vessel fire. It was found the vessel’s engine overheated and filled the engine compartment with smoke. The vessel was towed back to its slip in Chula Vista.

Harbor Police responded to a single jet ski accident near Harbor Island. It was found the operator received a back injury after he was ejected from his jet ski. The subject was transported to the hospital.

Harbor Police located a subject aboard a vessel which had run out of gas and was anchored near the Naval Carrier Basin. Due to the high volume of calls the vessel tow companies were dealing with for the holiday, Harbor Police assisted the boater by towing him to the nearest dock.

Harbor Police responded to the A-1 La Playa Anchorage for a domestic violence incident. The verbal argument was documented and the subjects agreed to go their separate ways for a while.

Harbor Police responded to numerous vessels dragging anchor within the A-1 La Playa Anchorage due to the high winds. The large volume of vessels due to the holiday also added to issue of anchors getting tangled with others.

July 3

Harbor Police were called to Pearson’s Fuel Dock for an adrift dinghy. The vessel was towed to the Harbor Police impound dock.

Harbor Police responded to the A-3 Laurel Street Anchorage to investigate a vessel burglary. Harbor Police boarded the vessel and located a subject hiding within it. The subject was taken into custody and charged with several crimes.

July 2

Harbor Police responded to the America's Cup Harbor for a medical call aboard a moored vessel. The subject was taken off the vessel and brought to an awaiting ambulance where he was transported to the hospital.

June 29

Harbor Police responded to Point Loma Peninsula for two jet skiers in distress. The jet ski operators got tangled in the kelp which stalled the motors making them vulnerable in the wind, currents and waves. One of the jet skiers eventually had to jump in the water due to his ski getting caught in the waves. The jet ski wound up grounding on the rocks at the beach. The operator was picked up by surrounding boaters.

Harbor Police responded to the Commercial Basin to investigate a small fuel spill. Harbor Police were unable to locate the source and notified all regional environmental agencies.

Harbor Police responded to the area near the Caesar Chavez Pier to investigate the strong smell of paint. It was found that a tug boat company was painting sections of a barge. The company was using tarps and covers to avoid environmental issues but they did not get a permit for the work.

June 26

Harbor Police investigated a vessel burglary that occurred near the A-3 Anchorage. An unknown subject broke a window entering the vessel and stole several items. The crime is still under investigation.

Harbor Police issued citations to two jet ski operators for speeding in the Harbor Island basin.

Harbor Police stored a small dinghy that was found adrift near the Maritime Museum.

Harbor Police contacted a vessel towing another in Glorietta Bay for a lighting violation. The contact led to the apprehension of a fugitive and other subjects taken into custody for harboring a fugitive, warrants and various other charges.

June 25

Harbor Police issued a citation to a jet ski operator for speeding in the Harbor Island basin.

June 24

Harbor Police responded to a Harbor Island marina for a vessel taking on water. As Harbor Police arrived, marina management was already dewatering the vessel and doing what they could to contain a small fuel spill. The cause is believed to be a broken pipe in the engine room that the bilge pump could not keep up with.
